Trijicon RMR footprint standard

Trijicon RMR footprint standard consists of two front sockets and two screw holes in the middle of the sight.

This standard is used primarily for red dots designed for full size and compact size pistols. For subcompact models this footprint is rather too wide.

As of 2024 the Trijicon RMR footprint standard is the most used footprint among all red dot manufacturers. Thanks to that, there is relatively quite a lot of compatible mounts and plates.

Footprint pattern

How does the Trijicon RMR footprint pattern look like? The scheme with all details are below.

  • there are two sockets distanced from each other 22.5mm [0.89 in], and
  • there are also two screw holes in the rear center of the footprint that allow fixation of the red dot to a plate or red dot mount

Mounting

If you want to install red dot that is compatible with Trijicon RMR footprint to your pistol, you have two options: plates and mounts.

  • plates work with optics ready models with optic ready cut in the slide,
  • mounts work with standard models and they function as a replacement of rear sight in the dovetail cut.
