Shield RMSc footprint standard

Shield RMSc footprint standard

Paul L. |

Shield RMSc footprint standard consists of four sockets altogether. Two sockets are in the front and sockets are in the rear part of the footprint. There are also two screw holes in the lower part of the sight.

This standard is used for red dots of all sizes: red dots designed for full size pistols, for compact sized pistols and even for subcompact sized pistols.

Shield RMSc footprint is quite popular among all sorts of red dot manufacturers. Also some of the other footprints on the market [Holosun K-series footprint] is basically a modification of the RMSc footprint.

Footprint pattern

How does the Shield RMSc footprint pattern look like? The scheme with all details are above.

  • there are two sockets in front, distanced from each other 17mm [0.66 in], and
  • two sockets in the rear part of the red dot, distanced from each other also 17mm [0.66 in], and also
  • there are also two screw holes in the rear of the footprint that allow fixation of the red dot to a plate or red dot mount

Mounting

If you want to install red dot that is compatible with Shield RMSc footprint to your pistol, you have two options: plates and mounts.

  • plates work with optics ready models with optic ready cut in the slide,
  • mounts work with standard models and they function as a replacement of rear sight in the dovetail cut.
