Mounting a scope on your CZ 457 is a quite simple, but if you do it the first time, it may not appear so. That is why this article exists.
Step 1: Understand the Mounting System on CZ 457
The CZ 457 features an integrated 11mm dovetail milled directly into the receiver. This means you don’t need a Picatinny rail if you really do not want to have one, or if your rifle already comes with one such Picatinny rail from factory [that depends by model that you buy].

When it comes to mounting a scope, you have two options:
- Mount directly to the dovetail using 11mm dovetail rings (the most simple setup).
- Install a Picatinny rail / Scope base, which opens up more scope ring choices (you will be able to install all rings with Picatinny or Weaver base to it). There are quite a few options when it comes to types -

Step 2: Choose the Right Scope Rings
Once you've decided how you're mounting, it’s time to select rings that match your setup. Here’s what you need to look at:
Mounting base type
If you’re mounting directly, you’ll need 11mm dovetail rings.
If you’ve added a Picatinny rail, then standard Picatinny rings will work.

Main tube diameter
Most scopes for this caliber (CZ 457 is rimfire) have a main tube diameter of 1 inch (25.4mm) or 30mm. Check your scope specs to be sure.
Why? Because there are different types of scope rings based on the size of main tube. You can find on our store here:
Ring height
This depends on your scope’s objective lens size. The larger the objective, the taller the rings you will need.

Step 3: Mount the Scope
Now let’s get that scope mounted:
- Secure the rings to the dovetail – Lightly tighten the bottom halves of the rings onto the rifle. Make sure they’re evenly spaced and aligned.
- Place the scope – Set the scope in the rings and adjust for correct eye relief. Hold the rifle naturally and ensure you have a full, clear sight picture.
- Align the reticle – Look through the scope and rotate it until the reticle is perfectly level.
- Tighten the top halves of the rings – Use even torque on both sides. If possible, use a torque wrench and follow manufacturer recommendations.

Step 4: Final Checks
Before heading to the range, take a moment to double-check everything:
- Eye relief – Is it still comfortable in your shooting position?
- Leveling – Use a bubble level to confirm the crosshair is horizontal.
- Stability – Wiggle the scope slightly. It should feel rock-solid.
And That’s It
The CZ 457 is a precision rifle, and mounting a scope correctly makes all the difference.
Once you’re zeroed in, you're ready to enjoy what this rimfire legend is capable of.
